The heating plant is located within the town, close to residential areas. This requires strict emission and noise reduction measures. To meet these legal requirements, given the plant’s location, a sound attenuator has been installed on the 25-meter-high chimney.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”481733″]In 2013, Linka supplied a wood pellet boiler as a backup to the primary boiler system.<\/p>\n

The wood pellet boiler replaced an old oil boiler and is used during particularly cold periods. The switch from oil to wood pellets has reduced heating costs, as oil is significantly more expensive. Wood pellets account for approximately 3% of heat production, and the wood pellet boiler operates around 300 hours each year.<\/p>\n

In 2018, a nearby factory chose to decommission their older boiler and instead connect to the district heating supply. This increased the demand for heat, and the backup boiler is therefore put into full use. To reduce future costs, \u00d8lgod Tekniske V\u00e6rker decided to convert the boiler system to wood chips.<\/p>\n

In 2018, Linka was tasked with building a new wood chip storage for \u00d8lgod Tekniske V\u00e6rkers backup boiler system. With the new firing system, the entire system meets the demand for heat.[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery el_id=”gallery-146688″ medias=”12097,12102″ gutter_size=”3″ screen_lg=”1000″ screen_md=”600″ screen_sm=”480″ single_overlay_opacity=”50″ single_padding=”2″ uncode_shortcode_id=”145183″][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=”h4″ text_size=”h4″ uncode_shortcode_id=”118528″]The existing solution[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”175977″]Linka was the turnkey supplier for the wood pellet plant in \u00d8lgod, and in addition to supplying the boiler system, we were responsible for delivering both the boiler and ash buildings.<\/p>\n

The plant consists of a 2,000 kW Linka H boiler designed for complete combustion and efficient fuel utilization. 16 pressure tanks inject air into the flue pipes to clean them. As a result, the operating staff only need to manually clean them a few times a year.<\/p>\n

Wood pellets are stored in an 85 m\u00b3 silo from which they are transported to the boiler using augers. By installing a bag filter, the flue gas is further cleaned to reduce dust. Therefore, dust emissions from the plant are extremely limited.<\/p>\n

In the boiler, an ash system is installed to automatically transport ash from the boiler to an 8 m\u00b3 ash container located in its own building.[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery el_id=”gallery-1466889″ medias=”12112,12107″ gutter_size=”3″ screen_lg=”1000″ screen_md=”600″ screen_sm=”480″ single_overlay_opacity=”50″ single_padding=”2″ uncode_shortcode_id=”185871″][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=”h4″ text_size=”h4″ uncode_shortcode_id=”211944″]The new solution[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”164027″]Linka constructed a wood chip storage pit next to the existing boiler room to store the wood chips. A tilting roof ensures easy access for filling, as the truck can unload the wood chips directly into the pit. Scrapers at the bottom of the pit move the wood chips forward to a sunken cross conveyor, from where inclined conveyors transfer them to the boiler. Photocells ensure that the cross conveyor is always filled.<\/p>\n

Pellet silos are retained to enable dual firing with both wood chips and wood pellets. Since the boiler system is already prepared for wood chips, only limited work is required for this purpose.<\/p>\n
