Through an absorbent-stripper system with amine purification, the impure gas is upgraded to clean gas before being fed into the natural gas grid.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade of the biomass plant and the subsequent installation of an economizer, along with the gas boiler, contribute to displacing CO2 emissions. This means that Madsen Bioenergy doesn&#8217;t add new CO2 to the atmosphere but, in collaboration with Linka, has established what is referred to as a circular cycle.&#8221; text_color_type=&#8221;uncode-palette&#8221; text_color_solid=&#8221;#ff0000&#8243;]950 kW biomass plant for combined firing with straw and wood chips, as well as an economizer and gas boiler backup[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=&#8221;h4&#8243; text_size=&#8221;h4&#8243; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;393105&#8243; subheading=&#8221;The brand-new biomass plant, a 950 kW LINKA H 1000 model with a hot water boiler and a Global 1 gas boiler, delivered with Linka&#8217;s patented combustion technology, ensures the maximum utilization of the fuel.<\/p>\n<p>The initial focus was primarily on firing with straw, but later a wood chip storage was added, enabling firing with wood chips as well. Subsequently, the biomass plant was designated as a multi-fuel combustion plant, designed for combined firing with straw and wood chips.<\/p>\n<p>The boiler system is installed in a building adjacent to Madsen Bioenergy&#8217;s straw storage and fermentation tanks.<\/p>\n<p>When straw is used, it is loaded onto the straw track and transported to Linka&#8217;s Straw Loading Unit, GIGA100 model, where the two shredder drums pull the straw upwards. The straw auger then guides the straw through the cell lock, feeding it into the stoker auger and from there into the boiler.<\/p>\n<p>When wood chips are used, they are loaded into the wood chip storage, from where, with its hydraulic discharger, scrapers, and dosing augers, the biomass is directly conveyed to the cell lock and then fed into the boiler&#8217;s combustion chamber through the stoker auger.<\/p>\n<p>In the combustion chamber of the boiler, a movable grate is installed to minimize slag formation, and Linka&#8217;s own globally patented cocurrent combustion system ensures heated combustion air is introduced, recirculating the flue gases, and ensuring maximum utilization of the straw.<\/p>\n<p>The soot blowers on the boiler force air through the boiler&#8217;s smoke pipes, effectively cleaning them from ash, which means the smoke pipes of the boiler rarely require manual cleaning.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, a flue gas cyclone is installed to cleanse the flue gas, significantly reducing dust emissions before they are released through the 20-meter-tall steel chimney. The ash is ultimately transported to 1 x 2.5m\u00b3 ash containers.<\/p>\n<p>An automatic ash removal system is installed, where ash augers transport the ash from the boiler to an ash container.<\/p>\n<p>The gas boiler is a LINKA Global-H &#8220;1,&#8221; in a vertical version, designed for firing with gas. It is supplied with a Dunphy biogas burner, model TG 35 ZM RT, fully modulating with flame monitoring, control system, and gas ramp.<\/p>\n<p>The boiler is also connected to an exhaust system, smoke and pipe installations, and a separate wall-mounted chimney.<\/p>\n<p>The gas boiler is primarily used as a backup for the straw and wood chip boiler, mainly during operational downtime for maintenance or similar reasons.<\/p>\n<p>The entire system is controlled through a PLC control system, which monitors the facility, ensuring controlled regulation of fuel supply and operation for maximum efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The PLC system sends out alarms in case of deviations from the pre-set points via the internet and SMS, and it will also be possible to monitor the system through smartphones, tablets, and\/or PCs.&#8221; text_color_type=&#8221;uncode-palette&#8221; text_color_solid=&#8221;#ff0000&#8243;]The plant[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=&#8221;h4&#8243; text_size=&#8221;h4&#8243; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;701208&#8243; subheading=&#8221;In 2020, Madsen Bioenergy additionally installed an economizer with special alloy steel in both flue gas paths. Due to the temperature conditions in the flue gas from the biomass plant, it was possible to extract an additional 100 kW from this setup.<\/p>\n<p>In essence, an economizer functions as a kind of flue gas cooler, transferring energy from the hot flue gas to a cooler medium &#8211; in this case, water &#8211; which can then be used for preheating or heating. This increases the system&#8217;s overall efficiency by getting more energy from the same amount of fuel.<\/p>\n<p>An example and prerequisite for this is that the flue gas temperature can be reduced by about 120\u00baC from 245\u00baC to 125\u00baC, resulting in an estimated savings of around 30 kg of straw per produced MW.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, if 8,000 MWh\/year is produced, this would translate to an annual savings of 237 tons of straw.<\/p>\n<p>The economizer is connected to the flue gas system immediately after the boiler and before the flue gas cyclone.&#8221;
