NORLUND A/S - Nørlund Sawmill

Local Thinning wood/Wood chips for Local Energy: Linka Energy's conceptual foundation was received very positively by Norlund A/S, who had substantial quantities of thinning wood/chips in connection with their sawmill production in Rold Forest. In 2022, Norlund A/S and Linka entered into an agreement for the establishment of a complete Linka Energy 5.0 MW wood chip-fired hot water boiler system, designed based on the thinning wood/wood chips available at the company. This thinning wood/wood chips now provide Norlund A/S with a stable, cost-effective, and CO²-neutral energy supply.

The boiler system, a 5.0 MW Linka H hot water boiler, is equipped with a wood chip scraper floor and drying container, which, in conjunction with Linka's patented combustion technology, ensures maximum utilization of the fuel. The thinning wood/wood chips are transported via a conveyor belt from a walking floor fuel silo through a fuel/drying container. The scraping system is automatically activated by a signal from the control system when the boiler's firing procedure is initiated. Within the boiler's combustion chamber, a movable grate is installed to minimize slag formation, and the co-current combustion system is Linka's own patented global system. The flue gas from the boiler passes through a multicyclone and then a bag filter, which cleans the flue gas and significantly reduces dust emissions before it is released through the chimney. Finally, the ash is transported to an ash container, sized to accommodate approximately 3 weeks of continuous operation at full load, 24/7. The plant is controlled through a PLC control system that monitors the facility and sends alarms via the internet and SMS. Additionally, it will be possible to monitor the plant via smartphones, tablets, and/or PCs.
