Textilia Långsele

Sustainable steam for a Swedish laundry that cleans and delivers tonnes of textiles every day.

In collaboration with Slagelse Rørservice, Linka Energy has installed a 3 MW biomass plant at Swedish laundry company Textilia’ plant in Långsele, Sweden.

Textilia has a total of 8 laundries across Sweden. Textilia cleans and delivers over 100 tonnes of work clothing and textiles every day all over Sweden.

The laundry in Långsele previously had an old oil-fired bioler from 1967 which was converted to be able to run on pulverised wood pellets. The new plant has reduced CO2 emissions by around 65% compared to the previous system. All other emissions have also been reduced significantly, which ensures the future sustainable operation for Textilia in Långsele.

The plant

The new plant is a 3 MW Linka steam boiler that uses wood pellets as fuel. The pellets are stored in 3 silos and are transported to a rotary gate feeder and stoker via a combined spiral rotor system. The quantity of fuel is regulated automatically by measuring the oxygen level in the flue gas. The patented combustion solution delivered by Linka Energy has been developed through extensive know-how and experience.

The plant requires minimum time of operation and maintenance, and can run unsupervised for a minimum of 72 hours. This has led to savings of 15-18% in terms of running costs and one full-time position.

The overall control system has been delivered in close cooperation with one of Linka’s long term supply chain partners. The system can be monitored and controlled via remote control which is connected to staff smartphones, tablets and computers. Remote control makes it convenient for staff to keep an eye on the system, and for Linka Energy’s service department to support and guide staff for optimum performance of the plant.
