Follo Fjernvarme AS Boiler 4 - Drømtorp 2
Pellet boiler plant with a 2,000-kW hot water boiler
Previously, Drømtorp Næringsområde and Ski Idrettspark were part of what was called a "district heating island" that was not connected to the rest of the district heating network in Ski. Follo Fjernvarme AS therefore established a new energy center on Teglvej in Drømtorp, which now connects the district heating network from Glynitveien to Finstad. In 2021, Linka Energy A/S provided an additional boiler for the energy center, based on wood pellet combustion; thus, providing Follo Fjernvarme's customers with a stable, competitively priced, CO2-neutral energy supply.
The plant
The boiler plant, a 2,000 kW Linka® H hot water boiler, is a cylindrical and efficient channel tube boiler in a 5-pass design with a smooth fire channel and water-cooled reversing chambers, which, together with Linka's patented combustion technology and the use of flue gas recirculation, ensures maximum fuel utilization. When heat is "requested" from the boiler, the firing procedure is initiated: the screw conveyor starts and retrieves the amount of fuel, depending on the heat demand, from one of the new pellet silos via the screw conveyor and delivers it to the fuel lock, from where it is introduced into the movable grate in the boiler through the stoker. Furthermore, a bag filter of type Teldust (Greenline) is installed, which cleans the flue gas and thereby reduces dust emissions before it is discharged into the existing chimney stack. The ash from both the boiler and the bag filter is eventually transported to the two ash containers. The plant is controlled via a PLC control system, which monitors the plant and sends out alarms via the internet and SMS. It is also possible to monitor the plant via smartphones, tablets, and/or PCs.
